It is a near-mint Bambus Ersatz Preußen Rolled-Edge Artillerie Filzhelm.

A very nice helmet, Tony!

For comparison I happen to have a lacquered ersatz Bambus helmet also, only for line infantry. I believe one of the 50,000 emergency units ordered to cover the leather shortage of late 1914-early 1915 until stop-gap leather could be sourced from Argentina.

Excellent helmets gentlemen. I don't recall having ever seen a lacquered felt Bambus before. Yes, this Sunday April 9th a celebration of the Canadian Corps' victory at Vimy Ridge. The birth of our Nation!!

Yes indeed God Bless Canada! A little known fact....the Canucks defeated 25% of the German army in the last 100 days of the war at great cost to ourselves. We were the allied storm troops. I have to laugh at WW1 Brit documentaries which give us no mention.....F you! Our sacrifice forced the Allies to give us a seat at the Versailles conference. In 1939 we decided to go to war on our own, our government made the decision, we were no longer a colony to be ordered about. It all began with Vimy.
