wanna see some of my helmets ?

Thanks Kris .

Hey Ron , again … very well spotted =D> =D> It is indeed the helmet that got me started !
As for the missing horse ,many other Kurassier men had to do without horses too..

PS ; that’s not a Lachmann , you so crazy about Lachmann you start seeing them everywhere. :happy3:

Mmmmmmm Lachmannnnn! =P~

These fellows in your photos look like POWs hence the missing horses (and weapons) :P

I forgot to mention the Prussian Einheits EM Feldmütze M1917 looks great too... You should post more closeups of it (and the Lachmann) for us when you can!

Now that you mentioned it :-k , they are POW’s ,would you believe I didn’t even notice that. #-o

Das krätzchen was in the same “costume rentals” as many of these ended up in, luckily, coz that’s what saved them from perishing.

Very nice markings Ed! =D>
Such a cap is still on my list...

Same Costume Rental stamp -- "Kostüm-Verleih Zacher" -- as on my Guard-Infantry field cap (see here).

Super collection and well displayed! RON, did you study those photos with a microscope or what!?
I also like the way you posed your 'subject' by the WWI vintage building. It's sad when history we care about disappears. For example, in my home town the tank plant has been torn down and the test track is now a sub-division of new homes. Oh well.

:D Ron

Received some interesting info about the picture with the Kurassier troops.

They are not POW’s but on their way to a church service ,the man in the middle is a priest.

Yes Ron (poniatowski )I’m with you on preserving some of our history , how do they want people to learn from the past if they keep on wiping it out ? ](*,)
That’s why we collect this stuff in the first place.

Hi Ed,

My first posting so my apologies if it all looks a bit funny or shows up in the wrong place.

First of all, congratulations with your 07/10 tunic, very nice.

I'm not a uniform expert, but looking at the tunic I notice a few oddities:

  • The tunic looks Saxon (it has the typical Saxon arrangement of the split with buttons in the back, see Kraus page 147) which doesn't correspond with the BA VII markings.

Additionally, there was no JR 39, only an FR 39 (Füsilier Rgt), and the two FR 39 items in my possession are marked as such (I think they were quite proud of the Füsilier title).

Finally, all infantry regiments in BA VII had Brandenburg cuffs.

So in my opinion it must be a Saxon tunic, although I haven't been able to determine exactly what unit the uniform could have belonged to ](*,)

Lars

Thanks for that info Lars, I’m not certain about the number following the JR .. , the numbers have faded ,but I assumed it was 39. The BA VII stamp however is clear.
The rear skirt is the Prussian type with the 6 buttons.

Hi Ed,

That's good news! Never nice when there's a mismatch between item and markings.

I only saw the straight coloured edge and the single button, and thought: Saxon. Luckily I did mention that I'm no expert on uniforms 8-[

Great toys as usual Ed! =D>

Is that Feldartillerie Kugelhelm M1915 as it seems there's gilding missing here and there, typical of that period... Reminds me of similar helmet that recently sold on the B. Malvaux site =P~ I'm glad you got it as it was quite a nice and tempting piece!

Nice trophy room Ed! Does it say where/when/what exactly this is on the back of the photo?

Re. your latest Kugelhelm =P~ ; that's indeed the one. Did you get that uberzug from the same seller as well?

That’s an early picture of the Royal Army and Military History Museum in Brussels.

No ,That cover was bought elsewhere with the amount that I managed to knock off the helmets asking prize. :)

Ha! Nailed it! I was going to say the Army Museum in Brussels! (no, not kidding either).. We were there a few years back and their display areas are rather unique. Also, the admission price is just right (Free of charge).

So, NICE artillery helmets and photos!

:D Ron
