A rare bird! Special!
You are really into the Pelzmützen theme!
What is the "cage" made of....? Wicker?

I see no wicker
I have never seen such construction
I will do a shot of the inside later
I see a stamp that looks like it is for the maker
but I can't make it out , it is too faint
The top is large and the kolpack is a very tight fit
There are 2 vent holes on each side
It has a kokard for an NCO and the fangschnur is for an NCO

Thank you!

The chin strap is of high quality , it has little leather sliders

IMO the banner was painted for Feldgrau .
One place on the banner has a small place where the paint was kicked
the banner appears to have been made of brass
I do not think the banner is iron
the small buckles on the chin strap are of the same grey color
the kolpack seems to be made into the sides
I do not plan to try and remove it
The helmet comes from an old USA collector going back to the 1950's and 1960's
It was shown in Eric J.'s book in the 1970's

Congratulations on your latest? purchase Steve (y)

I'm really curious about this one it looks like the Kolpak is handsewn to the top, is this right?

What were you saying about Amy leaving you in the shade?
