I trekked out to California last week for the West Coast Historical Militaria Collectors Show. I did a show write-up for Armchair General:

Nice write up. I should get a hold of Jeff. I would be interested in some trench art but not of the shell variety. I have seen one in the shape of a rhomboid tank and another in the shape of a windmill. I have a biplane. Interesting.

Yes, nicely written indeed! I have a trench art beer stein (or is it a beer brass?). I used to enjoy the MVPA's (Military Vehicle Preservation Association) conventions which were fun as well. I miss the show that used to be in Madison, Wisconsin (moved to the outskirts of Milwaukee), but it always seems to be on a weekend when I'm gone or busy. Meeting people and just relaxing / looking is almost as good as finding a good addition to the collection, better if you're working the show.

My wife just joined the Wisconsin veterans Museum thing. We/she has a relative – ancestor – that fought in the fourteenth Wisconsin infantry at Shiloh and Vicksburg so we will be going to these old haunts someday. :greentank:
