What are your thoughts on this Tschapka?

ya, i seen the enlisted man eagle, it would need an officer wappen instead. I think its interesting to see a felt body for the shell though!
 
It is fine the way it is....this is a private purchase item for a OYV or sergeant. Someone with the cash to buy a non government issued helmet. I have seen these lacquered felt officer style helmets a few times before.
 
Here's an example I have with a different type of attachment on the outside and inside of the tschapka for the removeable mortarboard. My apology for the old photos with the photobucket watermark on them, found here in this thread:


I have seen three other examples of this exact same configuration of officer ulan tschapka with this style of removable mortarboard, and the strange large size guard star on the wappen. One example showed up at the S.O.S. in approximately 2017 or 2018, and it sold quickly on Wednesday evening set-up, sometime after I looked at it and was surprised that it was the same type as my example. An older collector in Wisconsin had one which he sold on eBay several years ago, which was in nicer condition than my example. And Weitze had a nicer condition example that sold on his website in the past 7-10 years as well.
