Just came across this. Described as Hessen 1895 Other Ranks. Interior suggests officer, there's no vent on the spine and the cockades look like Prussian Officer (I think). I'm not interested in it, but would be like to know if it's the genuine article. if it is somebody might want to have go for it.

I did think it looked pretty rough, and 'loft find' always rings alarm bells, but I thought I'd ask anyway as most folk on here know a lot more about these things than I do.
