You are seeing a Sanitäter patch. A stretcher bearer (Krankenträger) would have only a company number on his shoulder strap. This strap obviously has much more than just a number. Besides, I have never seen a Krankenträger with a special collar device. I still cannot make out that cypher. I checked the VIII AK (corps of the 160.IR), just to make sure that there wasn't something there that I was missing. Don't see anything. So, I guess for now, the "B" will remain a mystery.

I think the B has to do with the manoeuvre ground Beverloo in Belgium, but for sure Chip won't believe me...

You may have something there, but I doubt it. Normally, the troops stationed at Beverloo wore shoulder straps with a "B" on them, like this.
I have never read a desription of these collar devices. It is a good guess anyway.
