What is it??

I picked up this helmet in January and just getting around to it. Not in the best shape, no liner and a little soft on top. Previous owner also polished it a lot. one replaced star.

Question is what exactly is it?

Not a Paymaster as they have Silver wappen with Brass small adler, this one is Brass on Brass.

I think the scales are possible wartime that have lost their gild or over polished.

A fellow collector thinks it could be either a Waffenmeister Beamte or Civil Officer attached you an Ordnance factory, most likely the Waffenmeister…

Would appreciate any thoughts?

Well, James, to start with the tiny Eagle would have been silver. Its lost the silver wash.

Then crack open Das Deutshe Heer and see what matches.

The split prongs holding the wappen on also usually indicates wartime production which would match your comment about zinc fittings.
 
Thanks Tony so a Music inspector of Bands for the army....

not so common I suspect. Make sense on the Adler finish being gone, the previous owner I think used a buffer to polish this helmet...

Well James at least you have some musical taste with RUSH! :thumb up: This like of RUSH may also, tie in with your Family ties to The Great White North on the Quebec side. Montreal ain't that far from TO man, a short train ride! Get onboard Big Guy! :D. I keep telling you, go east and come and see us after all this shit storm goes away, just don't bring Gus cause he has convictions, but do bring Maggie, she is a lovely person
