WW1 Imperial German Infantry Officers 1915 Pattern Feldgrau Litewka Tunic 231 Infantry
This was an active reservist unit. Thurigian, Anhalt, Brunswick, Saxony region recruitment I have read and been advised.

Everything on this display is original but probably not correct for the Tunic. EK, Brunswick Cross, and Wound Badge are original to the piece as I bought it.
Belt and buckle are period Saxony as is the nice Engraved Sword. The Bayonet is quite a nice one as well - double etched Imperial with an engraving as a Presentation "This piece has a very interesting dedication hand engraved into the blade. It is a gift from the "Junglingsverein" (Youth group?) of "Gnadenkirche" (Grace Church?) to the soldier. Apparently, he was well liked by the children, perhaps a Sunday school teacher or youth minister"

I Don't think a belt and buckle would be typical with this type tunic though I do have period RPPC cards with Officers wearing one - never a sword and Bayonet of course.

**Would love to get a proper and really nice example for this display" - Ideas on what would be correct?

Hi,

Litewka with some important badges only (without ribbon bar), infantry officer's Feldgrau or Dunkelblau visor cap (with ducal Saxon cockades, poppy-red piping), prewar infantry officer's black trousers or Feldgrau trousers, ankle boots and that's it.
Wearing a helmet, a ribbon bar, or even a full medal bar with the Litewka/Kleiner Rock is commonly seen in the Weimar period, by veterans who were no longer bonded by dress regulations. But it's not recommended for setting up a Mannequin.

However, exceptions always exist. He probably was wearing it to look better in the photo.
