Gents,
I am wondering what´s going on with Tony. #-o
Hope he´s doing well, because no topics, threads and replies on this forum since a few months... :o
Maybe someone has heard from him? :(

I received an email from Tony with an article outlining the remains of War of 1812 (?) soldiers being returned to the US after being found in a dig in Canada. His web site says he's done with the hobby and I don't know if that's for a while or for good. Either way, I hope to hear from him more and wish him the best.

Where on his site does it say he is no longer in the hobby??

I also immediatly looked at his site and found nothing about that too... :-k

The bottom of his webpage reads "Since the loss of Kaiser I am no longer accepting email. My heart's just not in it anymore." Not sure what that means. Read into it as you like, maybe he needs a break. He's a good guy though, he has been very helpful with me and I hope all is well.

I did get a email from him a couple months ago, he was interested in a Totenkopf that I had once owned.

so who knows :-k

Guys, although it says 'departed' on his forum status, Tony does check-in from time to time like here for instance: http://www.pickelhaubes.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7562" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think he's taking a well-deserved break but surely hasn't stopped collecting. I also wish him (you -- if you're reading this) well! He (you) got me into this great learning and sharing place and I too have experienced the loss of loved ones and beings over the past few years...

I also noted that his status says departed, although I am not sure what that means. I just hope he is doing well and that he may soon return here because he offered a lot of insightful advice.

Best regards,

Edwin

That's what I saw. Anyway, I meant that he may be taking a break and didn't really want to judge if he was out of the hobby for good or would be back. I hope he'll be back sooner, if not later. I did the same after my divorce and at times when other things crowded into my life too much to really enjoy collecting (like getting sent to a combat zone).
Sorry 'bout the confusion I caused. 8-[ #-o
Another thought (for me, not to put anything into anybody else's noggins), is that years ago I used to do scale model reviews and articles for Fine Scale Modeler; to the point that they were calling me in to do models to match future themes for their publication. It got so that I couldn't make a model without thinking of an article or similar. Maybe Tony is still in the hobby, he's just relaxing a bit and enjoying his collection rather than doing a lot of research or maintaining a web-site (I mean, I don't know how many questions he had to field per week, but that could be fatiguing!). Who knows. However, Tony has certainly been an asset to our hobby and community.

I noticed he's not been the same since the loss of Kaiser. Poor guy, it's hit him hard. I hope if you're reading this Tony, you know we're all thinking of you. Hope you come back sometime but thank you for all your help and friendship in the past.

All the best,
Chris
