Hi Guys,

I know that officers can be tracked and traced in the Ehrenrangliste.
Is it the same with Offizierstellvertreter who mostly were Feldwebel der Reserve?
In this case I am owning the helmet of Offizierstellvertreter Karl Steinel (Mannheim), 8. Compagnie, II/RJR76.
I found out in the Verlustliste that he was seriously wounded during the battle of Noyon (Oise), middle of September 1914.
He was then taken prisoner and died in french captivity on the 9.10.14. He is buried in Rouen / France in the Cimetière de l´Ouest, grave 23.

Is it possible to find out his date of birth? He was born in Mannheim (now Württemberg, but once a time Baden). I presume he was certainly a OYV who went in the reserve as a Vizefeldwebel or Feldwebel der Reserve....Maybe in a unit of Baden???

However on the cimetery site, only the name, the rank of Steinel and the date of death were known till I found the guy in the Verlustliste.
Now it has been updated with place of birth, unit and that he died in captivity...

Philippe
