Nice image Markgraf, my vote would be Telegrapher Battalion 2-6. To me it looks like there is a script letter T on his shoulderstrap with an unknown battalion number below.

Ron the 1873 artillery swords were used by a wide variety of mounted, non-cavalry units.

I'm with Larmo, a Telegrapher. But I was thinking Telegraphen-Bataillon Nr.2 or Telegraphen-Bataillon Nr.4 as neither formation had litzen (as in this case).
