Based on more than a few absolutely correct e-mails. I have changed the name to replace the words Chef with Honorary Colonels-in-Chief.

Have you really looked at that photo of Margarethe Landgräfin von Hessen of Füsilier Regiment von Gersdorff (Kurhessisches) Nr. 80? What do you think her waist size is.....10 inches!!!!! I can't see how she could possibly function with a waist that tiny.

And yes, Gus, Victoria Luise rules! She was definitely a looker.

Mike,

You are absolutely correct-I have no idea how they did that. I think I posted this somewhere earlier, but I will raise you a Norwegian :love10: :love10:

Oh this is very clear Joe, the appropriate garment did the job.

Oh, I know it's all a trick of the proper corset, what I was getting at was how could they breathe? How could they eat? It must have been horribly uncomfortable.

Upper class women of the time were prone to fainting, it had little to do with health, and more to do with restrictive garments.
Gus
