Working in progress

Napoleonic Shakos are evidentially impossible to obtain, I legitimately cannot even find photos of real ones on the internet, so this shako is not my favorite piece in Zeb's collection, but that is very cool.

If you're interested in the subject, I can recommend some incredible books full of Original Items from the period to include many shakos. Don't know if they are still available or how expensive they are now but would be worth a look and the price regardless of what it would be.

I'm a Napoleonic period fanatic and have studied the uniforms and equipment since a little boy playing with toy soldiers. Still have hundreds of them I just can't part with. :)

I also full sets of the uniform plates from the masters. Which I love (y)

Just let me know what you're interested in, and I can help.

You're right, Napoleonic shakos are a chimera, but I purchased this specimen at a modest price because it still looks dirty.
In my opinion it is an original shako from the restoration period (1820-1840) on which an original Napoleonic frieze was mounted in distant times.
Very cool! So it is partially original to the Napoleonic period! That is about as close you can get to owning an original without breaking into the French Army Museum’s display cases 😂

Do you have any recommendations for books on swords and buttons? I’m currently only collecting Napoleonic buttons, but I am looking to move into swords soon. I think I’ll start with the common sabre briquet, but I hope to acquire some higher-end specimens like a dragoon sword later on.

I realy love that colonial stuff.
I have spend the first 15 years of my live in central africa!
An old german fortress in Kitega have been my playground for about a year, back then.
There is very little on the internet about it and I havent found my pic's yet....

Awesome! I’m starting to think Zeb has already broken into the French Army Museum before… these specimens are top tier!

I'd be interested in any books you could tell me of, I have the same deep interest in Headwear and Uniforms, so recommendations for books in that category would be much appreciated, preferably in English. Thank you in advance.

I don't want to sidetrack the tread but, I could recommend a few wonderful books.

For learning and understanding the study of French uniformology of the French Army of the Napoleonic era you have to start with the true master Lucien Rousselot I have all his works, but his book Napoleons Army 1790-1815 is a must have and the easiest and cheapest way to see and learn almost everything.

For looking at original items I will recommend the following two to start with they are some of the best.
Napoleon et les Invalides Collections du musee de L'Armee, and my personal favorite Les Tresors de L'Emperi L'armee de Napoleon which is the book showing one if the not the best collection ever from Raoul and Jean Brunon.

I'm not really a button collector per sa and don't have any specific books on the subject but any of these books would have pictures of buttons but I think Lucien Rousselots book would have plenty of information on buttons and swords.

Hope the info helps (y)

Thanks for the list! I’ll make sure to look into these.
