Was looking at this with misty eyes at first but now I`m not so sure. I can see there is what appears to be black on some of the plates, which could be the base coat and the overall look dosn`t seem forced. However, when I compare it to the relic one I found some years ago, the plates seem to be different sizes. I have a complete set and several extra lower plates, all original as I found them all stacked together in the same dugout. The ones I found have a lot more black showing on the wear points and they havnt been carried about for the last 90 yrs, just sitting buried under chalk.
There are a lot of remakes of these out there and Im not buying the museum story. Also there seem to be no marks at all on the inside, no stamps, stencils or anything.
Is this an aged modern set or a nice period piece.
I also seem to have some nagging doubts about the seller from some place in the past.
Worth grabben a bargain (I know its a bad pun
) Or leave it alone?
