Note the silver visor trim, the upside down side post, the outline of a comb around the spine, and the unusual hole situation inside the shell.

It may be a fireman's helmet with army parts added.

No maybe about it. However, the ones that actually were converted for military use tend to be much better constructed... I think this one was done by a civilian who wanted a 'spiked' helmet.
