A little restoration was needed, the back visor was loose, the stitching was gone, and of course, someone tried to glue it back on #-o … STOP DOING THAT PEOPLE :x It never holds.
First I had to remove all the glue, luckily it came off easily, then I‘ve put a new thread in the old stitch holes in the middle and on the ends of the visor, and voila, as good as new, you can’t even see it.
The antlers are gone, as is often the case with the Wurttemberg wappen , otherwise still complete ,the chinstrap even marks its place in the front visor.
This helmet belonged to Gefreiter Hiller - 5 th komp.
The 127th had an incredible run during WWI, Argonne, De Somme, Reims, Hill 60, you name it, they were there.

Reims ....
Fort de la Pompelle is open again after months of renovations.
I wonder whether the complete collection can still be seen.
I'll talk to Missus Boss...
Short trip.

This is a welcome resurrection for a very nice, well-marked helmet, Spiker! But what a pity that antlers are missing! Replacement antlers, even from a galvano, should be acceptable here. Or maybe you have access to a 3D printer...

Would you really replace with 3D parts Bruno? C’est une blague non ?
Maybe it’s sarcasm, :-k because I’m so picky

I'm all in favor of restoring some helmets, but this one is too nice to play with. I'd leave it the way it is.

Of course it's a joke!!.. But I still believe you should try to find replacement antlers. Not easy though. I had the same problem on a JR120 helmet and I could never find the missing deer head ornament...

Okay, I but I think I would sooner find a complete Wurttemberg wappen to solve this.
Anyway , I’m leaving it like this, a soldier is allowed to carry a scar or two, i.m.o.

One very unusual thing about this helmet is that some idiot has not taken a marker and changed the name in the helmet:)

To be honest....if it were mine I would look for an original wappen that fits but for now, enjoy it as is. However, that is me....I would not restore these helmets if I did not have that "perfectionist" thing as part of my brain. This is an exceptional issued helme.... Excellente Regt markings plus the paper name tag, chin strap... all original! Yes he is an old soldier who has survived mostly complete for 100 years.

Thanx gentlemen!

99% of the people who would have done that would not know the difference:)

We need that 127 mark – can I copy the picture or can you send me a close-up of the 127? I would like to put it in our listing.
