Württemberg General Artillery Kugelhelm c1900

Is this a rare (and OK) piece?

Looks pretty mismatched to me. Also, the star soldered onto the wappen? No visor lining. And, yes, the enamel looks more like enamel paint on the cross. So... personally.... I don't think so. [-(

I am always very suspicious when rare helmets like this one are offered on ebay and not without a reason apparently :-k And I don't trust sellers either who offer rare helmets exclusively.

Perhaps for what its worth, but below is a link to a nice general's helmet:

It's always good to compare 'bashings' and see if one's progressing with fake detection...

This one is probably a parts helmet as some elements do seem authentic. The liner for instance and its maker mark which looks too far-fetched for a fake. As for the absence of the black & green lining under the visors, I've seen this on Chas's Württemberg M15 Officer so I'm assuming this was a savings option? although I doubt a general would've been that stingy about his haube! :-P

I would guess the lack of 'red and green' under the neck guard and visor may be due to it being a late war shell? I really dunno. It has one of those 'ventilated' leather sections on the liner, which is late war, or just post WWII...?

Ah yes ,I also spotted that one ,the ball and throat are obviously brand new ,once I see that,
the rest I don’t care to look anymore [-(

This item was delisted by the seller before the auction end date, wonder what happened?

It had several bidders, highest bid was over a $1000.

I understand from the previous posts it was a parts helmet.

Probably someone made him an offer he could not refuse.
