I have observed this seller and his offerings for some time, and I personally would not buy anything from him, even if the item was good.

All the Best,

Alan

That's unfortunate Alan. I have bought from Markus many times, mostly shoulder straps etc. Always an excellent item. He is on my list of sellers that I will not hesitate to buy from.

Hi Leone,

What looks wrong to you? I see the plate is broken in two places and that one of the 'loops' on back is twisted.

:D Ron

I agree with Ron. Looks like it's real, but worse for the wear.

All the better for you, Tony, I'm glad you like him and have got great deals from him. Obviously I don't collect shoulder straps, and wouldn't follow his offerings on shoulder boards/straps.

Here's my explanation why I won't buy from him: I've seen him pull the plug on auctions on eBay.de too many times for my liking, before they're finished. That's a huge turn-off for me. He's pulled the plug on several auctions where I've bid on his items, and I refuse to bid on any more of his auctions because of that. Maybe he's a great guy. And maybe he never offers fakes, or messed with stuff, that's great (and rare). I simply don't bid on auctions of sellers who end their auctions early.

All the Best,

Alan

I agree completely. When I have bid on somehing I need (want?) and the auction ends early, you can probably hear me down there screaming profanities from way up here..... :cussing:

I hate that, worst feeling. I tend not to scream but I experience that sinking heart in my stomach feeling. its like catching your girl with another guy, you just didn't think it would happen but it did.

Sorry.
Maybe I'm mistake, and I understand that it is not too expensive plate, but I not saw somewhere that on the shield lower horns is with 4 branches
sORRY for my english. :)

Hi Leone,

There's nothing to be concerned about, the frontplate you have shown us which you are concerned about is original WW1 or earlier manufacture.

Yes, the antlers are different. See how the ribs are different on the lion? The oakleaves are also different. There are several differences in the two frontplates, not just with the antlers on the shield.

I would say that different manufacturers made the other ones you have found on the internet.

All the Best,

Alan

Wow, I never noticed that! Taking a look at Tony's site, there are a lot of variations between Officer and EM, Pre-war and war time plates. Dang!

We lived through a time when everything was made to standards, and parts were always interchangeable, This was not the case 100 years ago, and with more and more things made in China in small factories, it is becoming true again.
