WW1 or WW2 Sword?

Hello everyone. Calling on the Sword experts… Is this sword Officer or NCO? Although it has 2 loops on the scabbard and the latter isn’t blackened, the handle is not made of (natural) shagreen (shark or ray skin). Instead, it seems made of plastic (or bakelite) as one can clearly see a joint line in the middle. Does this make it WW2 or interwar?

The bottom ring has no bail!

The molded plastic handle is contemporary.
Gembruch-Solingen was a manufacturer of daggers and sabers, notably for the SS during WWII.

The fact that we have his name on the blade, Armin Gembruch, leads me to believe this was a commercial demonstration weapon, perhaps a ceremonial saber for the West German police or fire brigade.

I’m hoping James and Gabe will jump in and shed some light on this sword as well…
