WW1 Train Officer serving in Bagdad - uniform & documents

WW1 German advisor's uniform - heavy cordoroy material plain buttons - marked Extra Fein on back. Plus award documents - Iron Cross 2nd Class 1917, 1st Class 1918 plus Turkish Cross. This German officer worked on the Bagdad railroad - no doubt battling it out with Lawrence and the Arabs. He survived WW1 and worked with the German railroad though WW2

We all know that the muslim Turks became distructful of their German allies and limited German involvement in Turkey. The Turks needed the technical expertice of the Germans - for things like railways.

Curious to hear any more information on this topic. Please also look at my post on steel helmets with Guard emblems painted on.

Oberleutnant Kloevekorn is shown in the 1914 Prussian Army List as a Leutnant der Landwehr Pioniere in Landwehrbezirk I Bremen. He was a Railway construction and operating inspector in civil life and in 1911 was employed in Kiautschau. Promoted to Leutnant der Reserve on 18.10.02 in Pionier-Bataillon Nr. 18, he was promoted to Oberleutnant der Landwehr on 8.3.16.

Great uniform Jeff!!!!! Thanks for posting the photos here. It is not a standard khaki uniform as issued to the Asienkorps but appears to be a privatley made copy of his home uniform made with tough khaki corduroy. Probably very practical...

Ottoman certificate + a document signed by A. Hitler himself... Nice stuff; love that Ottoman Star with the Tughra on!
 
The buttons on the uniform do not look to be usual Prussian army. A friend of mine pointed out that they look to be Ottoman army buttons from the 1876 pattern...

Thanks very much Jeff, I was just about to ask for permission. It'll be a great addition. Interesting on the buttons too... yes I think the Germans did make buttons for the Turkish army, but I'll do some more checking into that.

That is an amazing collection. When I was stationed in Iraq, I met a man in Baghdad that was living with his family who was a British Colonial WWII Vet. I will have to dig up the photo and post it if I can ever find out how to.
