This German officer worked on the Bagdad railroad - no doubt battling it out with Lawrence and the Arabs. He survived WW1 and worked with the German railroad though WW2
We all know that the muslim Turks became distructful of their German allies and limited German involvement in Turkey. The Turks needed the technical expertice of the Germans - for things like railways.
