WW2 American helmet help

Hi This is a bit out of my range of knowledge so I am posting this on behalf of a friend who would like to find out more about this helmet if possible..hope you guys can help.
its a US army helmet poss WW2 my boss at work had a look at it as he knows a little about these things and rekons it is of WW2 vintage though it may have been reissued at some point?
inside the helmet on the strap is marked 370 42 57 42 and the name Burg. any possibility of finding out more info about this guy would be great.

Hi Stu--
I really need to see bigger photos but from the chinstraps and the overall color I'm not even sure if this is actually an American helmet. It could be a NATO helmet actually. I'm not sure which country but I'm not really seeing an American WWII helmet here.
