The seller said that the chinstrap has been replaced....but the rest looks very new too. Thoughts?
I've asked the seller if there are any pics of the inside, hope to get some response soon.

This one looks better:

My two cents... The condition looks fine to me, I've one in better condition from 1916. Just like an old hat, if it was cared for, it will be in good shape. Anyhoo, I've never seen a pebbled liner with felt re-enforcements on the tabs before, but that doesn't mean anything. The liner could be original and the felt added by a collector as a preservation technique if the tongues were beginning to tear. Without holding the chinstrap and looking at it, I'd say it too looks good for a late war filzhaube. The fittings are the right thickness and such, but evidently the seller has an insight into this that I don't. To me, it looks like a pretty good helmet. The only thing that would worry me is a lack of a maker's mark, but somebody who collects more 'felts' could speak to that.

My concern, is with the front visor trim.....in the frontal pic it just does not look right. The trim itself, is too thin (width) and rounded, the side brads are too small. In the side view pic you can see an extra hole where the original trim brad went through the shell. I would suggest that this trim came off of some visor cap as used by some Brit army Regts.

Good points. I didn't really look to closely at that... not bidding or buying. I don't think I have visor trim on any of my felts, so don't have a good reference. The thing I don't like about this is the shape of the dome from the front... kinda pointy, but that's just the way I feel about it.
