Xmas present Preußen Artillery pickelhaube *Cleaning update*

Xmas started well for me yesterday when i recieved my present from my folks it is a nice untouch Prussian Artillery haube stamped AR71 1912 it needs a bit of cleaning but that´s how i like them the most.

A very nice gift indeed. I wish I was offered a Pickelhaube (or anything else...) for Christmas!

Excellent helme and a sweet Xmas gift! That one is so...original and untouched. Excellent markings. I would deal with the mold problem on the liner though. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to kill the mold (cotton ball or Q tip) Regards, Brian

Here are some pictures before and after the cleaning it was one of the most dirty helmets i ever had to clean but i am very satisfied with the result.

Could you share with us what you used to polish the brass and how you cleaned the liner and shell?

Ron for the brass i have used a fifty-fifty mix of ammonia-water and a little bit of dishsoap and then with a toothbrush i start to clean it piece by piece you must regular wash of the ammonia mix from the brass to see the result , when the brass is cleaned with the ammonia mix i polish it with a brass cloth for the shiny final result.
For the leather inside and the liner i use natural ledercreme and for the shell outside i use kiwi shoe cream.
