Gday to all, im looking at the helmet, and the strap and the gask mask.

Is the helemt the real thing, as is the strap and the mask.

Will the strap suit the helmet, if so then all i will need is a liner, is that correct ????

What would these items be worth to buy.

I figure i can buy the bits and make a helmet, good or bad idea.

The helmet looks OK, but it is only a shell, the como paint is not the classic type, but I can not see any thing to scare me away (although the photos are very poor) The chin stra ia an Otto Koch, and they have been discussed here before, some think that they are real, and some think not. But the gas mask is easy, I have already bid on this (although I am no longer in the running) I would have bid more except for two reasons, the most important is that I already have a very nice example of the M1917 mask, the second is the dent in the cannister. The damage to the cannister is significant, but it still is a very nice set, and still has the paper cloth carring strap as well as the short button down strap at the bottom of the can. To be honest, the strap is a much greater plus than the dent is a minus (In my opinion)

Congradulations on the M1917 gas mask Lyndon, I think that in a year, you will find that the amount you paid would not buy a mask in any where near that condition. If the dent in the can bothers you, there is another can for sale on ebay

It is the correct can for the M1917 mask inspite of the seller's discription. Although, the dent was no doubt acquired in the trenches, and adds a bit of history to the item.

Gday again. First thanks for all the help, yes im happy with the mask. I may have said before that im in the states for all of May, thus im trying to buy what I want as I have a shipping address in Ohio. I can then take home as carry on.

I missed the cammo helmet by $5, still there will be others. The strap went for a lot ?????

Hi Lyndon,
I think this is a post war (possibly post WWII or even pos Viet Nam War) paint job. The colours are too vibrant and I have never seen a helmet with a white boarder stripe. The red is to bright to be a real cammo job, as it would make a wonderfull target, the buy it now price pretty much tells you what the seller thinks of it, as it would be much higher if the paint job was real.
