Could have sworn he was Landsturm. Litewka, plain-looking Schulterklappen, trusty Gew 88 with an S71 attached, M.89 ammo pouches, steely-eyed Landsturm stare. In fact the only non-Landsturm item is his wappen :-k

Luftschiffer-Bataillon Nr.2 was tethered observation balloons. Perhaps he was one of the Landsturm men drafted to do sentry duty etc? Garde Wappen, but his Tschako is an M1860 pattern.
