Happy new year guys.
Need some help on this markings
It's a Wurttemberg ORS . No extra holes and loops on the wappen back have not been moved.
Rear visor stamped 98R 1912.
98R according to my documents is not a wurtt regiment. Anyone can assist?
Thank you

Thanks James.
My references also show that and I have tried four prussian plates and none fit so will have to wait for more prussian plates to fix the helmet body
Thank you anyway

Indeed 98R. was a Prussian regiment , can you see a shadow of the Wurttemberg wappen on the helmet when it is removed ?

Yes there was the shadow there and the stitching matches that is the front visor.Stosstrupp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 4:14 amIndeed 98R. was a Prussian regiment , can you see a shadow of the Wurttemberg wappen on the helmet when it is removed ?

Amy:
Are you sure about the 2nd digit?
All the Infantry units starting with a number 9 are either Prussian ( Regiments 94 through 99) or from the smaller Dutchies, but none are Wurttemburg.
90 is Mecklenburg-Schwerin, 91 is Oldenburg, 92 is Brunswick and 93 is Anhalt. I don't know if the Wappen loop spacing of 3.25 inches on centre for Prussian and Wurttemburg Wappens would be different for the smaller dutchy wappens.
If the second digit is clearly an 8 I guess you'll have to wait for Prussian wappen that fits.
Best wishes for the New Year!
Steve
