Happy Birthday!
I see you have a felt IR115 in the back. This one should be on the forefront...

Then, here is a second one, Tony. This one named to Vizefeldwebel Diener.Tony without Kaiser wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 12:38 pmI believe that is the first one I have seen. That is remarkable.
Zebedeus, fantastic helmet! Rare enough to show another example.
Re: Yes I love ersatz pichelhaube.
Wow, Bruno|||| What a beauty.
Another one example of IR115 felt pickelhaube. I know about 3-4 pieces of this rare spike helmet.

When I saw it, years and years ago, I liked his particular and uncommon ersatz fabric chin-strap.

Beautiful condition! You don’t see those fabric chin straps very often. Congratulations

And now a beautiful M15 bavarian metalhelm. It's in really good condition. Note the feldgrau chinstrap.

I've had a couple Bavarian "tin" ersatz, but they all had brass fittings.

Very nice! Which one is your favorite child?

Re: Yes I love ersatz pichelhaube.
Wow a Bavarian helmet that James does not have! That is very rare indeed.
The condition of that piece is excellent.

Nice helmets but the one I like the best, next to the 115th, is the Tschapka. If you happen to have pictures... if not, no problem.
Many thanks;

This is a great, very rare one, and in my opinion much better looking than the all-felt model. Thank you for the pictures.

Excellent . Greetings, Coert.

Re: Yes I love ersatz pichelhaube.
Could we see a photo of the interior? I am also wondering if that top is made of aluminum or some other light material? You would expect that a heavier mortar board would depress the felt shell. Either way, that piece is in excellent condition and very rare!

Re: Yes I love ersatz pichelhaube.
Dear friends, thank you for your enthusiastic appreciation. Now I'll try to answer some of your questions. All the tshapska is quite different from the others ersatz in felt like the one manufactured by luckenwalde mutzenfabrik that you surely know.
The felt body is grey-green and all the fitting, as prussian eagle, chinstrap’s buckles, visor trim and mortar board are in magnetic metal painted in feldgrau colour. The top, produced in thin sheet metal (eisenblech) is not removable.
However, the tshapska is not particularly heavy. I compared the weight of this specimen with the weight of a Luckenwalder Hutfabriken tshapska with the three-ply all felt mortar board and the difference is only + 32 grams.
Despite its relative greater weight, the tshapska's body is not crushed by the weight of the mortar board.
It is my opinion that this is due to the fact that in the lower part the mortar board has a particular circular base that increases the support surface on the body of the helmet.
If you then look at the photos of the interior, the thapska has a large metal reinforcement disk on which the top is connected. This metal disk, larger than the other model, is able to better distribute the weight on the body.
I think this particular ersatz tshapska was introduced in early 1915 before the M15 feldgrau tshapska with removable mortar board. There is no regimental marks or manufacture’s.
I would be very grateful if anyone has any information to add.

Re: Yes I love ersatz pichelhaube.
Were did you ever find this beauty ????
Re: Yes I love ersatz pichelhaube.
Thanks Zeb, that totally explains why there is no depression in the top of the shell.
The condition here is just amazing!

This one comes from poor Michael Baldwin's collection. It was auctioned a couple of years ago.
