D R 3 / G R z P 3

Hello,
Very rare...
Very interesting the handles différence. Common opinion curved=grenadier....straight= garde grenadier....
Regards
Pierrick

Very rare helmet! For anyone interested, and with deep pockets, Weitze has one for sale on his website update from yesterday:

Coert ;
I saw that
and was interested because mine is a reserve officer
I sent an email to ask the price
By the time the update is ready for me to see 12 :00 Noon
Weitze is closed in Germany
my email will be answered on Monday
but a friend of mine already knows the price
I am no longer interested
and a buyer will need more than deep pockets
he will need a very large bank account and be foolish with his money !
Steve

I would also like to differ with Helmut Weitze or the staff member
who writes up his descriptions.
Ref ; The D R 3 / G zu P R # 3
written up as " The rarest of all the cavalry helmets "
well it is as always a matter of opinion but I think
an officers helmet for the 1 L K R 1 after the eagle change
is also rare .What do the members think ?

This DR 3 helmet had been on the market since at least June before it came to HW.

I had the helmet in my hand and I didn't like the lacquer. Just my opinion.

Best wishes

Since HW is offering the helmet it must be the rarest of all….😀

For me it‘s KR 1

I concur, Steve. Let alone LHR and a few others, which are also often prettier than DR3...
It is also the first time I observe such febrility about this model. It is a great and very rare one for sure, but as far as I can remember the few that came for sale earlier (at Kube Auktionen for instance) fetched high, but not crazy prices. In short, I perceive some excessiveness in this ad...

Not to sound like a broken record but I would have to say everyone here is correct I would hardly call that the rarest of all cavalry helmets especially if you start to take into account helmets that have royals cyphers in the liners.

Hello GardeUian
Are you saying that you think the helmet had the lacquer re-done ?
Thanks
Steve

You are correct Bruno
This one is crazy !
I don't know the "official asking price " yet
but I trust what I have heard

I think that what HW and I are saying is how often does a helmet from
one certain regiment appear for sale .
Surely a helmet to a Royal person would put it into a different class.

Fair point but its still just meant to highlight that saying its the rarest of all cavalry helmets is quite a generous statement. I believe you and I were having a small discussion on a different post that issued DR. 25 helmets are almost non existent to the point that only one has been seen on the open market in how many years?

Also if we want to talk about Dragoon officers helmets
I consider Hessian D R 23 officers helmet with the order on the front plate and awarded very late
very rare.
