Hannoverian tales.

There's nothing like these pre-war ink markings to confirm the exact origin of a helmet!
And I'd go even further: the eagle is from the helmet's vintage! Dated 1899, it's the year the Kaiser granted the "Waterloo" banner to this regiment. As a result, we took the old eagles of the line from the helmets in use, and added a banner behind each wing. This was done to alleviate the emergency.
Subsequently, a specially stamped eagle with the banner was produced for all 4 Hanoverian regiments.

I'll add on to this post with this.
As You all well know, I am a beginner, however this seems like a good opportunity to show my first and only Spiked Helmet as of now.

So we can say that my example is one of the first to be equipped with the Waterloo bandeau and indeed the first to end up in my collection.

Continuing the story........after this first J.R 74 I have read the unique history of the Principality of Hannover. I was fashinated by this and keep the decision to expand the collection of hannover's helmets.
A few years later from the first purchase I was lucky enought to catch up this superb D.R.16 officier helmet.20240110_141434.jpg
