Dear Friends, I haven't been on the forum much in the last few weeks.
In fact, I'm busy. In the little free time I have after work I'm creating a new project. I purchased a used display case, I proceeded with dismantling and transporting it.
The electrical system was obsolete and so I completely redid it using LED tube lamps.
It was hard work but I'm happy with the result. Now the hardest part is deciding how to fill it with items from the collection.
I'm making some attempts. I am open to any advice from you.
In the meantime I'll send you some photos.

Shako looks to be from the Voltigeurs of the 6th, from the plate shape 1808-1812 and pompon 1st company 1 st battalion.

Thats what I thought, Napoleonic! That would automatically make it my favorite of all Zeb’s pieces haha

Napoleonic Shakos are evidentially impossible to obtain, I legitimately cannot even find photos of real ones on the internet, so this shako is not my favorite piece in Zeb's collection, but that is very cool.

It is true that original shakos from the period are almost impossible to come by, which is why I’m hesitant to refer to it as a true Napoleonic shako just yet. After all there are shakos made for Napoleon’s funeral procession and centennial reproductions are all floating around on the market right now. I guess we’ll just have to see what Zeb has to say about it!

I wouldn’t go as far as to say it is impossible to acquire such an item, as original Napoleonic headgear occasionally surfaces on the market in varying condition (I believe there is a relic 1814 Garde du Corps du Roi helmet on AoK right now).

As for seeing an original shako, they can be found at the French Army Museum, which I am determined to visit one day.
 
I have seen one shako for sale, it was on a site called Waterloo Militaria, I forget most of the details, but I believe he said it was a a model 1814? And it was $7,500 if I'm not mistaken. I also periodically see Cavalry Headgear such as Cuirassier helmets as well. It is an interesting topic.

You're right, Napoleonic shakos are a chimera, but I purchased this specimen at a modest price because it still looks dirty.
In my opinion it is an original shako from the restoration period (1820-1840) on which an original Napoleonic frieze was mounted in distant times.

If you notice I said looks to be, which is what it is set up to be according to the shape, pompon and plate.

From one picture nobody could say one way or the other to its originality, unless the picture was much clearer and closer.

Since Zeb owns it and knows much better, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's not a Shako from a latter period made to be from the Period of the Emperor. Who can blame it ;)

So far, my favorites to admire are the colonial section absolute world class (y)(y)
