WW1 Regimental flags

Francis
It has been sometime since I looked at that on Weitze
I think that you are asking about the Sakular Parade Banner
that he calls K R 2 ??
If that is what you ask, I can tell you that I looked up that banner
and from what I remember there were more than one regiment
raised on that same date .
So, it could one of several
then call it what you want to
since K R 2 is more of a "special regiment "
then call it K R 2 , but no way to prove
Steve
Thank you Steve. Very interesting.

There is no I D on this photo
However, I see that his flag carries a KDM 1870 / 71
streamer with battle honors.
There was only one Jager Batl that had the 1870/71 KDM
streamer with battle honors and from memory that was
J B 7

In this photo of the Fahnentrager of J B 7 he is not wearing his parade bush.
so, we see clearly the 1870/71 K D M streamer and his field badge has 3 colors .

Great photos again!

Do you know Steve where these flags were made?
No, I have never heard of any information about where they were made.
I did hear stories about when the 3rd Reich flags were to be made
They had to go back and find the people who did the Imperial flags
to do the work.

Yes. Probably small traditional businesses with several years of service.

I know of the Belgian Army Standards and Flags that they were repared by nuns in the monastery. Fine embroidery. The old ones [1832] were perhaps/probably made by the nuns.

Somewhere I have an old tape recording about during WWII
the Germans were moving some of the caskets and flags
so that they might not get captured
Another story of hiding some of the flags in salt mines.
Steve

It's all true, they even moved the body of Frederick the Great (y)

Sorry to say , it looks like the book project by Neil
will now not happen
Jens was in touch with the German who was going to have
a part in the book
I think they talked, and Jens offered to help
but I am not sure there was any progress
