A piece of historical and museum significance!
In 1919, to celebrate the victory in the "Great War", a pyramid of thousands of captured Pickelhaube helmets was erected on "Park Avenue", which had been renamed "Victory Way". The pieces were then sold to the citizens and the proceeds given to the widows and orphans. Only very few of these pieces have survived! This is the first one we have been able to purchase on the market in over 40 years!

New York City Built a WWI Victory Monument Out of 85,000 German Helmets
New Yorkers hosted the nation's World War I victory celebration in 1919. Being part of the winning team in the "War to End All Wars" was a big deal, and the city's Park Avenue was transformed for the event.

How 12,000 German spiked helmets were displayed in New York after WWI
The US erected the structures on Park Avenue - which was temporarily renamed Victory Way - outside Grand Central Station in 1919 as part of a sale of captured German equipment.
