It came from an air station in Northern Ireland, swapped for a couple of German helmets! Some people have them restored by having the dial replaced or repainted!!!! .Rob

I bought it about 20 years ago from Bob Gardner of Doncaster who had a website named ‘Aeroclocks’. I treated myself from my earnings as a consultant, after I retired from my ‘real job’. It wasn’t cheap, but I’ve never regretted it. It’s a type II, dated 1942. Inside the dial is a message in pencilled capitals saying’Give them hell from us, lads’, presumably from the people who assembled it. For those who don’t know about these clocks this is a good link https://sandiegoairandspace.org/collection/item/wwii-raf-sector-clock. Ironically, a US site, giving a very good description.
Rob, your clock looks like it’s had a very hard life.Does it still run?
Yes still runs, I put a new glass on the front . The guy was from NI and I had just moved to New York. But he packed it really well it is dated 1941 I think. Couple of helmets for a sector clock was an easy deal. I have a big standard RAF then I bought some US sector clocks. It’s a disease . Rob
For those who like helmet plates, I was recently fortunate in being able to buy all these at a very good price from a collector thinning out his collection.
All are Victorian officer plates, post 1881, unless otherwise stated.
