Great older helmet!
This is really cool and unexpected to find over 80 years after the area came to Poland for good. You should look for an accompanying helmet again. Would make a great display!Hi all, That is an old topic but I think it is worth to unddug it to the top. Helmet went to Tony in meantime, I hope he like it but some time ago I found one item which is very close connected to this Helmet. Take a look
It is an sign from Bahnhoff in Lyck Ostpreussen (Now it is Ełk in Poland)
City where 11 Dragoner Regiment was located.
This sign was found far away from Lyck, near Hohenstein (now Olsztynek) at a farm. Second collage photo is made "in situ" as it was found![]()
Yes, Dragon M60 officer’s helmet. Before there was no Vaterland-Eagle Band (AKO 4 November 60) In 1867, the nut arches disappeared. The guilloché leather liner, with square crenels, was replaced by a sweatband and silk background around 1885.This Dragoon Officer's example came from an estate sale in Germany several years ago, and was listed as a M1860.
Is it a M1860? It has the liner of an M1860 officer and the early nuts. Not sure when they no longer used both.
