Great acquisition. I agree about the chinstrap.

The helmet cleaned up well and I was able to find the parts needed for repair. It looks good with my M1915’s. Thanks to everyone for the positive encouragement.

First, thank you all for your help and support. I removed the surface rust with oil & fine steel wool. Then used my Dremel tool and the red polish along with Soft cloths & simichrome polish. There is still some dark patina, that would probably polish out, but I decided to leave it for now...

After more reading this morning, I may have found my answer. Several web pages list the "K" mark as a military acceptance mark for the Gewehr Prüfungskommission Spandau. I have found photos of Fernglas 08 from several manufactures with the same mark. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks, Henry

Does anyone have information on unit markings? I recently pick up a pair of E. Leitz-Wetzlar Fernglas 08 with case that are marked with a "K" on the bridge. Any assistance is appreciated. Henry
