Yes Philippe, that could be so... Although the marking is handwritten and not stamped.
Another option would be that it is an early marking, scratched and when resused in 1914 with the handwritten name and number on the other side are from the new wearer... 🤔
Thanks for your reply and opinion/ information Philippe!
Yes, you are right... The front and back visor bare the same name and number. I’ll make some pictures tomorrow with good natural light.
Cheers,
Dorus
Dear fellow collectors.
I hope to get some opinions, experience, possiblities and expertise so I come to you.
I have this recently aquired M95 Grenadiers helmet which to me appears a textbook piece; all fittings seem original to the helmet, no extra holes, marks from the eagle in the leather...
Thank you for the reply, and the information provided... It helps a lot.
Also the removal of the ink stamp as common practice in the day is great to know, I didn't know that.
I will try to decipher to the ink stamp, and if I do I will inform the forum of course.
Checking eBay on a frequent base...
Hi Steve and thanks for your question!
I needed indeed an original Prussian state cockade since the one on the Haube was repainted.
I already found one and added it for completion...
Thanks again, much appreciated :thumb up:
Thank you Francis
Hahaha, I promise... No more raids and sniffing :-"
These is a nice ghosting of the plate on the helmet. No extra holes.
The holes for the plate rings also have messing rings around them, and the plate is attached with the original leather strips.
@Pickelhauben;
Thank you...
