    Regimental marking on Dreyse M1841

I doubt that the unit designation has any naval connection. I do not know what sort of naval organization Prussia had prior to 1871 but later Kaiserliches Marine markings as hinted at above would have been to Matrosen Division (M.D.) and See Batallion (S.B.). It is possible that your rifle is...

    Regimental marking on Dreyse M1841

Neither Noll nor Goertz are of any help. As the Dreise is a pre-imperial weapon the search is far more difficult. Does the Dreyse have Prussian acceptance marks? Have you included all the punctuation?

Save the Locust Valley Gun! - German 77mm C96Na Artillery

I think there might be many more pieces laying around than the web site at the beginning of this posting indicates. I know of a live and properly papered 77 in PA, an abandoned heavy Skoda in West Virginia and a trench mortar in Maryland. I can't afford the first and the Skoda can probably be...

    George sent me this picture

Maxime, I have several more from the same grouping, perhaps five in total. Notice the officer with the dust goggles in the first photo; he is armed with a Mauser C96 and a KAR 88. Now that you have identified the town, I will try to determine what unit they might have belonged to.

    Rare Guard Regt!

I think I have spoken with the seller in the past. His full-time job is providing technical support for HP printers. My experiance tells me it is simply an honest mistake due to some of the challenges of translation from Hindi to English. I had a difficult time understanding what the hell he was...

    Strange badge

Led by a Major von Gaertringen, this Freikorps organization was primarily involved in border disputes with the ascendant Polish army along the Danzig Corridor. Later in 1920 I believe they helped to put down the uprising of Polish military units in Upper Silesia.

Looks like Grenzschutz-Jaeger-Batallion von Hiller or Danziger Grenzschutz Hagelsberg, both Freikorps units.

Why are Pickelhaubes so small ????

Having collected Pickelhauben since the late 1950's I will share a few observations; I have only once had an enlisted man's helmet (1915 Bavarian) which would fit my head and I am 5'11". I have had quite a few officer's and Military official's helmets that fit me well. Two factors to consider...
