Gents, Here is an interesting Colonial Veteran Association postcard. The card shows various Colonial uniforms worn by the Schutztruppe and Polizeitruppe during the war. A nice quick overview of what was worn by German and Native troops.

Yes, never say never but generally speaking when you find a brown leather frog with a pointed bottom to the pocket it will be Bavarian. Not all Bavarian Seitengewehre had pointed frogs but pointed frogs are generally Bavarian if you get the distinction. Here is one for a KS98 style bayonet.

Here are two examples (Mounted & Foot) of Bavarian Mourning Portepee alongside a standard Bavarian Officer Portepee for comparison. The knots are black with blue highlights to denote Bavaria. Very scarce accouterments.
