    Trench detectives

I am joining this discussion late. Thanks for the chance to view these! On chapter one I was surprised that they said that the British site was definitely not German because of the lace up boots. They were right about it being British yes, but as we all know German soldiers were...

Regimental marked rifles , what like pokers have you ?

Landsturm, and a nicer example would be hard to find! This is the one on the siderail? A Nosecap on an 1891 Loewe "S" turned up recently. None matching to the action/barrel jacket. Never the less, an outstanding example of a Landsturm regimental stamp: L. OP. 4. 147.

    styling

Nice clear photo, you can see the cartouches in the butt stock! Who paid $127.50 for a pc? Was it a banjo player? I just was reading a forum where a couple of the members were lamenting the days when photos were going for $3.00 a piece.

Brett That is THE most awesome Landsturm photo yet, even if it is contrived / posed for. I really like this one! :occasion5:

    Prussian pre-1891 cockade

Came across a Prussian cockade recently that I picked up for my LG helmet that has the screw type attachments for chin scales & cockades. It is a mannschaft Prussian cockade, but it is 55mm, and it is larger than the cockades on my M15. The center hole is about 8mm and fits perfectly onto the...

Save the Locust Valley Gun! - German 77mm C96Na Artillery

Have you tried contacting the US Army Artillery Museum, Fort Sill, Oklahoma? They have several of these if memory serves me. They could possibly be a big help in the restoration as far as research information goes. http://sill-www.army.mil/Museum/HOME%20PAGE.htm

    83rd??????

This is the third example of the dogs mounted in this fashion I have seen in as many weeks. Is there a date? I don't see a batallion mentioned either. Reading that style handwriting is an art form!

    Squadron Patch

This is not a period squadron patch, but I am sure you all will get a kick out of it anyway. The 4th Pursuit Group started forming up on October 25, 1918 at Toul, France. It was assigned to the then new 2nd Army Air Service which had been formed on October 12, also at Toul. The first squadron...

    Tientsin 1905

That looks like one, but is most likely the Pfm 71/98. They were used by the Ostasiatisches Expeditions-Korps, specifically by the Pionier-Batallion. The East Asian Expeditionary Corps were the first German troops to be armed with Gewehr 98 rifles in 1900. The Pfm 71/98 was made by removing...
