    Amoskeag and Julia Auctions

I looked at both auctions. I really wanted to attend the Amoskeag auction, as there were some things I wanted, and I liked Craig. But, it was a 14- hour trip, and I had just worked the Baltimore MACA Show the weekend before. I would have liked to have handled some of the pre-1900 firearms...

    Army museum Brussels

That museum is on my short list. I will catch it on another trip (and once I know any renovations are completed). Last month I visited the museum in Rastatt, but when I went to the Franco-Prussian War museum in Woerth, it was closed for renovation, and with no mention of that on their website...

    MAX Show 2016

The Las Vegas office of Morphy Auctions had a large auction (about 2200 lots of French and German ) last July. Quite a bit of French 19th century items. I was told by them yesterday (as I do some work for them) that their February 2017 auction will include 400 lots of items that did not make it...

WTB: Franco - Prussian War items

Thanks for the responses. I guess I should have clarified that I am seeking Prussian items. This is a rather new interest of mine, as I am getting bored with my primary collecting interest; WWII Fallschirmjäger. I started collecting Needle Guns a few years ago and now have 5. I picked up the...

    M1850 Zündnadelgewehr pouch unit marking

After doing some more research, I think this pouch is marked to the 3rd (Brandenburg) Fuss Artillerie Regiment, 2nd Batterie.

    M1850 Needle Gun pouches

I discovered an interesting lot of these pouches from a gentleman who picked them up around 1962 from Bannerman's and kept them in his barn until recently. He had one on a table at a show a few months back and after I bought it I asked what else he had and he had two more under his table. At...

    1865 Hirschfanger Bayonet

Hey Larry, Yes, I heard you had a M1854. I was talking to Walter at a show a few weeks ago. I am consdiering an example as we speak. It is likely to be a naval issue piece as well, but is does not have a "MD" stamping. It does have what appears to be a rack number in two locations. Here is an...

Prussian uniforms - wars of unification

Sorry for the novice question, but are uniforms available for the 1864/ 1866/ 1871 wars?

    1865 Hirschfanger Bayonet

Larry, I have studied this information thread a number of time. Your M65 Jägerbüchse is an amazing rifle, as well as your blades. What sort of sidearm would a Jäger have carried with a M54 Pikenbüchse a few years before?

    Zündnadelgewehr accessories

Yes, it would be ALOT of fun to shoot. I spend alot of time at the range so I am going to figure it out this year. I have seen Youtube videos of people shooting them. Some of the guys at Kassel shoot them and were shocked to hear that I didn't. LOL I would have been afraid to break the needle...

    Zündnadelgewehr accessories

Picked up some repro M62 accessories at the Kassel Show. Dummy rounds, muzzle/ sight protector, and needle. The seller was trying to convince me to take out the original needle and shoot that thing!!! Not sure if the needle pin holder is a copy of an era original though.

    M1850 Zündnadelgewehr pouch unit marking

Thanks Edwin, that is very useful! An interesting presentation on markings. I had a feeling it was the 3rd Bavarian Field Artillery Regiment (not sure why I said "foot" when I had seen a list of regiments earlier), so now it makes sense. :thumb up:

    M1850 Zündnadelgewehr pouch unit marking

Could someone help me out with the identification of this unit? 3rd Bavarian Foot Artillery Regiment? 2nd Batterie? This one, as well as the other markings, has me stumped.

    Potsdam and GUARD "GGR1"

Potsdam was also the place for my favorite beer; Potsdamer Rex Pils. I also explored a pub named after the Grenadier Guards.
