    Thüringen Pickelhaube

but why? couldn't you have had this helmet missing the state kokarde and wappen and turned it into whatever you want with whatever parts you had that fit the holes in the leather shell? Line infantry eagles fit line infantry helmet holes, right? soooo, in theory with the right Braunschweig...

    Garde Pickelhaube

Looks like the spike isn't removable. The chin scales seem to be non removable. also the fashion during 1915 at the time for officer helmets would have had a more protruding star fixture. With mismatched patina it seems obvious to me to be a parts helmet.

    Garde’s and Grenadier’s

    I will tell you that this helmet is a highly desirable item amongst collectors and will get up into the $3,000 range. It is considered a infantry regiment. check this out for more info.... http://www.kaisersbunker.com/dunkelblau/helmets/dbh61.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Thüringen Pickelhaube

Totally agree with you. I guess I should have been more clear. There really isn't anything wrong with this helmet on the surface at all, it all adds up except maybe the odd kokarde. What I meant was that the Thüringen eagle/star(which is a good one) could have been bought as a part piece from...

What do you think about this one saxon artillery

I would pass on it based on the EM visor trim(which is incorrect for a officer helmet), condition and price. That's just my opinion.

    Thüringen Pickelhaube

I would skip these types of helmets unless it has the proper regt stamps. They are too easy to upgrade from a regular line infantry helmet.

Prussian Cavalry EM Pickelhaube Kokarden M1891/1915

and the description title of the auction is poor. I am looking for some of these BAD!! and it never came up on my Ebay searches! :x he should have included "spiked helmet" or "pickelhaube" or "Prussian" in the title. Oh well, the wait continues.

    Castle Burg Eltz

I wanted to share some pictures with you guys. These picture are from Burg Eltz, located near Koblenz. My wife and I took the two hour trip from Koeln down there and had a great time. There is a treasure museum, two restaurants and a guided tour through the castle rooms. If you plan on going...

    Preussen Ersatz Filzhaube

Yeah thats what I am seeing too.

    Prussian Artillery M1915 EM Kugelhelm

without any unit markings this helmet could be just a infantry helmet upgraded. Although upgrading to a artillery still doesn't (for me) justify the price.

    Golden chinstrap

yeah this one has me going #-o!!!! This went way overboard considering that these pop up about every 2-3 months and possibly in better condition. and arent these rounded M91 chin scales not only unique to a Kürassier helmets but also found on enlisted artillery, other cavalry helmets, etc...

    Preussen Ersatz Filzhaube

Is there remnants of green paint on the eagle? kind of looks like it from the photo but it is very faint.

    GDC & Braunsweig

You are comparing a EM helmet to a Officer helmet, you do know that, right?

    GDC & Braunsweig

I find the screw attachment strange also on the GDC Ebay example also, I just haven't seen that attachment before but its probably more stable on the helmet. I attached a couple images of eagle attachment screws. I would imagine you find all types of different attachments, nuts and bolts sense...

The first colour photographs from the German front line

these are very nice, great saturated colors. These look like photographs produced using the Autochrome Lumière process.

    GDC & Braunsweig

The GDC is interesting but there are a couple things that bother me. If its regiment stamped already on the lobster tail then what will you find under the kokarde? unless, it has a different stamp under the kokarde, then thats a problem. The one thing that visually bothers me is that it looks...

    Bavarian Reserve M1895 EM Pickelhaube

Yeah thats bad. Wait a week and another one of those will pop up in better condition on Ebay and probably go for a lot less.

    Bavarian Reserve M1895 EM Pickelhaube

I don't think that is too much at all but thats my opinion. Its well marked, in good condition and I think to some collectors the reserve cross models are more desirable. Maybe the winner had the proper chinstrap already? In general, I think if you are paying too much attention to the final...

    Two shako

The first Shako you posted looks totally incorrect to me. The front and back visors seem to be replaced with other parts of a pickelhaube visor or something. it looks awkward to me. The chinstrap looks to be not original to this helmet. The second Shako looks interesting. I don't collect these...
