Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

You wanted to re-construct the personal GdC epaulets of Emperor Wilhelm II. That’s why I added the link from the forum warrelics, which shows pretty clear that he wore epaulets with a golden half moon, silver braids and just one golden star in the center of the field (no batons). The underlay...

Something about the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg

Great to know Thierry. I think this should explain the different regiments. The M1867 is also a beautiful and correct helmet (y). However, acc. to our discussion I’d like to add that only Oldenburg citizens had to wear the Oldenburg cockade. Of course that doesn’t mean every helmet of the...

Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

The epaulets for his GdC uniform were from silver color with a golden half moon, a white or silver field and a ponceau red underlay. On the field he wore a small golden star. Here you can find excellent photos of his uniform, also from the epaulets...

    Repro Recomendations

Sorry I don’t know geed repro helmet makers, especially not for older models. I would ask re-enactment site hosts to find a repro helmet maker. Maybe the guys of this website could help: https://bekleidungsamt-13.de/

Im looking for a Brunswick Ranglist book

Are you looking for a soldier with the name "Meyers" or "Meyer"? There is only a "Meyer" in the list above. It is one of the most common surnames in Germany at the time. If you are actually looking for "Meyers", you have to keep looking, unfortunately. The skull on the helmet eagle was...

    Opinions on Wappen

The eagle seems to be original, but the center bolt is modern with Iso thread. Look at the different thread pitches when comparing it with the outer bolts. Maybe it was added to screw the eagle on a display board or something like that?

Something about the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg

Thank you Frank, this is a beautiful photo :) But I’m confused, because acc. to my knowledge „Birkenfeld“ was related to IR30 and not IR70? Here is a link to the „Militär-Gesetzblatt“ from 1877...

Something about the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg

Here are some interesting information about Oldenburg Pickelhauben that perhaps not everyone knows: As is generally known, there were two Oldenburg regiments, Infantry Regiment No. 91 and Dragoon Regiment No. 19. However, helmets with Oldenburg cockades may also be plausible with stamps from...

    Ventilation system

Very cool. Thank you for sharing, Amy. Also interesting that it seems there were metal inserts in the holes for the eagle before, like the enlisted men’s helmet M1895 has. I have a Saxon officer helmet which has these inserts too.

    Is this another reproduction helmet??

I just checked ebay.uk and I didn’t find a solid helmet there. And the British e-shops I know are very expensive. What exactly are you looking for and how much are you willing to pay? Do you want brass fittings (peace quality) or grey fittings?

    My sons helmet

Due to several fake helmets I would say he’s a fraudster. I’m really sorry for your son. Next tell him to ask for advice here before buying. It’s difficult to evaluate if a pickelhaube is original or fake for beginners. We are all passionate collectors and help free of charge. We also have a...

    My sons helmet

Hello Hamblin and welcome to the Forum. Unfortunately, this is a reproduction. If you compare it with photos of original helmets, you will quickly recognize that the quality of the parts is very bad. I first thought the shell might be original, but the liner is made from the wrong leather...

Introduction of the chin strap for the foot artillery?

Thank you Thierry. However, I think I've found my proof. Although it’s no photo proof, the Saxon Clothing Regulations of 1893 clearly shows that the foot artillery wore a chin strap too. Nevertheless, I would still be very happy about photo evidences ;) Btw, if you are looking just for photos...

Introduction of the chin strap for the foot artillery?

Thank you very much for your explanation, Thierry. I really appreciate it. But I’d like to know if anyone ever has seen a helmet M1887 of the foot artillery? I really want to see a modern or contemporary photo of such a helmet. There have to be a photo evidence or a helmet left, right?!
