    M49 Hessian

Something to consider; in 1849 Hesse soldiers did not all wake up to a new 1849 pattern helmet. It would have taken years. What was the next model for Hesse, the 1860? So Amy’s helmet hypothetically could have been made in 1859. “Model” indicates a range of production. X year to X year. When...

Zeb it’s my understanding that Garde Pionier wore gilt chinscales. Not silver.

1853/60 Kürassier helmet - Kürassier Regiment Königin (Pommersches) Nr.2

Somewhere there is an article (Georg Peschke?) that described how the smallest size ovoid shaped shell was only produced on the 1843, and modified repeatedly. However, I cannot find it, so 1853 as Sandy suggests is more accurate.

1853/60 Kürassier helmet - Kürassier Regiment Königin (Pommersches) Nr.2

I did not actually answer your question about the eagle. That is an 1860 pattern eagle, which already has the Fatherland Bandeau stamped in. You can tell because it does not have the Schwarzenegger arms of the 1842 eagles.

1853/60 Kürassier helmet - Kürassier Regiment Königin (Pommersches) Nr.2

That’s wonderful! So it’s actually a bit of everything, which is what makes Metalhelme so special. The shell is an 1843, in the smallest size with the “ovoid” shape (egg shape). The visor has been moved inside plus threaded chinscale bolts, so altered sometime after 1853. Then the Fatherland...

    Issued M1872 Mecklenburgisches Füsilier-Regt.Nr.90.

Issued M1872 1. Großherzoglich Mecklenburgisches Füsilier-Regt. Kaiser Wilhelm Nr.90. Very difficult to find an issued helmet with that unique spike and of course the Wappen. Excellent, heavy, solid old leather body, no lacquer damage with the countless little cracks of original lacquer. This...

    Preussen Garde Officer star confusion

Hello all, Could anyone show some close-ups of Preussen Garde officer stars, especially fake ones and what to look for? I’ve been collecting 50 years this year, all for Soldat on campaign. This resulted in limited exposure to Garde officer stars. Could anyone show some replicas and what to...

    Prussian Beamten Pickelhaube restoration

Most of the gilt remains, plus it has that very attractive wee Adler on the bigger Adler + nicely rounded chinscales. That will be a very attractive addition.

    reserve officer's helmet for KR6

That appears to be a very nice Preussen Reserve Officer in silver. Remove that original Adler, and then look at the helmet. Chinscales appear good, possibly spike base. It appears to be mostly replica with a few (?) original parts. Give it a sniff, perhaps with a fresh Naan bread?
