    First Pickelhaube

Most probably. That was a common practice at the start of the war because of a lack of helmets and the sheer amount of new troops that needed equipement and helmets. I have a prussian M15 that started its life as a Baden M95.

    Mecklenburg-Strelitz

I must admit i didn't know Strelitz had a different Wappen. I never saw one and haven't thought about it either. Very interesting to have not just one but two presented here. I find it nothing less than extraordinary that both helmets were captured during the same attack with only a few dozen...

    UNITED STATES IMPORT EXPORT DEVELOPMENTS

Additional question. Is it allowed to take a helmet with you while travelling by plane? Or will customs pick it out of your luggage?

    M16 TJ68 Camouflaged Steel Helmet

Very nice! And in a very big size as well! Do you maybe have a picture from the front of the helmet?

    Untouched eBay find.

It looks to have a very light green paint. Liner is in a great condition with the drawstring which is very nice as well! I always like it when the vent holes have been closed of for some reason. Was there a lot of interest on ebay or were you able to get a good deal on it?

    Bayonet ID and price?

A non matching set in this condition and with common makers I would estimate about 100 euro. I sold a non matching one in very good condition not long ago for 125. Of course in both cases without a frog.

That's no marking before the 3. Just some kind of little scratch :)

    Saxon 107.R.

Thanks for your nice comments. :) I took another look at the regimental markings. These saxon helmets indeed often have markings which are incised in the leather (see below screenshot I have). I have an ok feeling about it but I'll stand corrected should anybody see it in another way. :)

    M16 101U.S.F.A. Souvenir

I like it a lot. The paint on the outside is unfortunately a bit gone but the inside looks great and it's a rarer maker. Nice looking helmet with veteran details!

    Saxon 107.R.

I haven't had a Saxon helmet in the collection for quite some years and when this one was offered to me I couldn't say no. It's a helmet belonging to a soldier of Infanterie Regiment 107. It has the Kompanie mentioned but no Brigade. Haven't seen that before.

Incredible. It seems to me you must have bought a second house just to store all your Pickelhauben. :D

Something French and something very expensive

And here for scale my most expensive "purchase" ever. My son Otto, born 2 weeks ago. His little hand looks a bit odd in the picture but all's fine. 🤗

Something French and something very expensive

I recently bought this French M72/74 cuirassier helmet from our fellow member Sander. I have about a dozen French adrian helmets but none of these older (cavalry) types. Liner is a bit dry but present. I found it a very attractive helmet straight away so I'm glad I have it on my shelf. :)

    Age of Kings

Wow, are those all genuine fossilized skulls? Incredibly rare. And what is that gigantic skull in the background? I once bought a molar of a mammoth. Way less impressive but I find it fascinating it belonged to an extinct giant that lived tens of thousands of years ago.

    Age of Kings

And what is it that you're collecting now? Something completely different or still relaxed to militaria?

    Dream rifle acquired!

Very nice. These G98's have a very cool look and feel. I was super happy when I bought mine years ago as well. I once saw 5 original slings on a militaria expo and bought one of them. Unfortunately I sold it some years later for no particular good reason.
