I got in this nice set of photos the other day, all from IR117. Note all the Kaiser Shooting Prizes, which seem to have the date 1913.

    Baden Versuchshelm M1905/06

Here is a neat one I got in yesterday that I thought you all may enjoy. I only have one other photo showing the M1905/06 Versuchshelm, but from a distance, so I was happy to add this to the collection!

    Strange Sleeves on Feldrock

I wanted to share this with you all as it is quite odd. I think I have one other example in my collection showing a Feldrock with the same sleeves. Hopefully someone here might know why this was done!

    Black Felt Pickelhaubes

I believe this is the only photo in my collection that shows black felt Pickelhaubes. The majority of the soldiers in the photo have gray felt Pickelhauben, and only one with a leather example. Has anyone ever seen a physical example of one of these? The soldiers have 168 on their straps, so I...

    Vulcanfibre Pickelhaubes

Here is a nice clear one for you all! Neat to see two Vulcanfibre Pickelhauben as well as a few nice Felt ones. You can tell they are the Vulcanfibre helmets by the three rivets on the visors.

WW2 German NCO wearing a Bavarian Pickelhaube

I've had this photo for some years and just love it. How many times can you say you've seen a WW2 German soldier wearing a Pickelhaube? Willing to bet he was a veteran of the Great War.

Helmets and gear collected from the battlefield

Sadly, I am not sure where this was taken, but it is an interesting photo. Quite the array of helmets and gear collected, some having battle damage or lost parts.

    Ersatz Felt Tschapkas

I hope that you all will enjoy this nice photo, showing Uhlans of Königs-Ulanen-Regiment Nr.13. Half the Tschapkas look to be the normal leather-bodied examples, while half are felt. It makes for a good photo study! Two of the chin straps look to be Ersatz cloth examples as well.

    M1915 in Brass

Hey all! This is one of two Pickelhauben I got in last week. I had only seen examples of these brass M1915s in a French reference book I own. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to own one, but sure enough, one popped up! One side note - The spacing of the front plate loops...

    Lacquered Felt M1895

Good afternoon, all! After a few year hiatus from Pickelhauben, I happened to get in two, one day after the other. To say I am thrilled is an understatement! This one is a Lacquered M1895 Filzhelm that my wife actually spotted on Facebook marketplace, of all places. I jumped on it as soon as I...

    Saxon Jäger

It's been a while, so I figured I would share one of my recent arrivals! Here is a nice studio portrait, showing a Jäger of Königlich Sächsische Reserve-Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 26.

    1860s Mecklenburg Dragoon?

Hello all! I am hoping that someone may be able to confirm my suspicions on this photo. I got it in with a grouping of other photos, and suspect that he may be an 1860s Mecklenburg Dragoon. I know they wore kepis. If not a Mecklenburger, I would certainly think a Dragoon of one of the other...

    Provisional Reichswehr

One era that I love to collect images of is the short-lived time period of the Provisional Reichswehr. They are not common, so to stumble upon them is always a nice surprise. Feel free to share what you may have in your collections!

    Unknown Order

What a curious photo... I know that the order at the left is the Saxon Albrechtsorden, but can anyone identify the neck order on the right? I am totally stumped. Thanks for any help!

Mecklenburg Jäger with Jäger-Bataillon Nr.10 Shako

Here is a peculiar one! The soldier at right was from Mecklenburgisches Jäger-Bataillon Nr.14, but his shako has the distinct front plate of Hannoversches Jäger-Bataillon Nr.10.

German soldier with captured British "Hairbrush" grenade

I believe this is the first time I've seen a German carrying one of these British grenades. What an odd looking thing!

    Gibraltar Cuff Titles

A fun aspect of collecting photos is occasionally lucking out on a photo showing the Hanoverian Gibraltar cuff title, as worn by Jäger-Bataillon Nr. 10, Füsilier-Regiment Nr. 73, and Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 79. I will kick off this post with my most recent find, men of FR73.
