    Long Shot

That's true. But when you're looking for a hard to find part, like this clip, you have to jump on it when you have an opportunity. It may be years before you see another one on the loose. Hopefully, the cost of the part helps increase the overall value of the helmet. Good luck with it. Regards...

    Pictures SOS 2019

Tony, The correct pattern eagle is already in place. As far as the liner, I think I have one that will fit in my parts box. I not, it's okay since I really did get a bargain on this helmet. Regards, Richard

    Pictures SOS 2019

I found the prices were very negotiable, but indeed there were a lot of parts helmets. Brian's photo of the "The Older style Kurassier lacking a liner" ended up in my collection for way less than the listed price of $975.00 US. The seller was a collector who was downsizing and wanted it to go to...

    WWI and American Art Exhibit

Hello All, If anyone is travelling toward Nashville, Tennessee between now and January 21, 2018, there is a WWI art exhibit at the Frist Center. It's titled "World War I and American Art" and is an extensive display of contemporary art from the "American" point of view. For more information...

    Waffenrock

Does anyone have an opinion on which regiment this is from? KR 2 or KR 4? Can anyone tell me what the difference in the red color should be? In other words, is KR 2 a darker shade than KR 4 or is there some other way to determine it? Richard

    Waffenrock

The silk interior has decayed rather badly, but here is a photo of some letters inked into the liner (Pt. P.L.C.??? Z???). If anyone has a clue to what they may mean please let me know.

    Waffenrock

I received the tunic last week and figured I'd post some photos for opinions. Is it KR 2 or KR 4? It appears black in the photos but I assure everyone that it is indeed blue. Just a very dark blue. It does have some mothing and is missing one 23 mm silver button and the braid on one cuff. It...

    Waffenrock

Yes, I won and it's already shipped. Should have it next week. I don't think I've ever seen one for sale online. I have seen a Koller or two but not one of these. Still can't believe my luck. I think KR4 is likely too, but I will have to see the color in person. If anyone is interested, I can...

    Waffenrock

I spotted this piece on eBay and I just threw a bid at it. Granted it's in rough shape, but if I'm not mistaken it is a Waffenrock from either KR2 or KR4. The only difference between them that I can see is the shade of red on the collar \cuffs. If anyone can figure out the difference please let...

I need a little ID help

Thanks to everyone for weighing in on this one. First, it is definitely marked to RJR 233. I think the Lt. Spieß ID is pretty close. I wish I could decipher the letter in front of Spieß. I don't know if it's an O, D, or something else entirely. I would love to track this gentleman down. I have...

I need a little ID help

Here is the best photo I have of the front. Difficult to see the impression, but a Prussian line eagle fits the markings perfectly. The 95 mm spacing is throwing me off. Also, does anyone have information about RIR 233? I have found some info on the internet but would like anything related to...

I need a little ID help

I recently purchased a wartime officer 'haube off eBay. Incomplete and in need of a total resto, my typical modus operandi, but interesting nonetheless. It has solid stitching, rear spine and visor trim that are rusty. Fortunately, I have a zinc officer spike and base. I need some chin scales...

    A little help please...

I'm beginning a restoration of this helmet this weekend, so I will take photos as it moves along. It's going to require a lot of work (I'm looking forward to it). My question about brass or steel fittings really relates to the AKO of September 21, 1915. My helmet is marked KBAG 1915. Does the...
