Thank you! The one appearing in the SS catalog appears to be a M43 Kurassier helmet with gilded fittings and 1860 guard star.

That makes perfect sense. I know the uniform but never considered the helmet and fittings. I've never seen another one so actually, I don't think $8000.00 would be too far out of line with what dealers ask.

I ran across this helmet in an old Soldier Shop Catalog I still have circa 1967. From the description it seems to be steel with guilt fittings. Has anyone ever heard of or seen a helmet of the "Headquarters Guard" like this?

Elegant design! I love the fact that the emperor down through the senior officers would turn out in these more casual caps as if they were engaged with their club or a hunt when in fact they're commanding the most powerful army in Europe.

Its an old 1776 Hessian re-enactors fusilier helmet I got many years ago. Its all stamped brass work however and I love it. Remarkable how close the lion is to the Hessian M46 --- like direct continuity.
