    Cap Kokarden & M-56 Helmet

Greetings Gentlemen, Looking for a split-pin Reichskokarden to adorn a repro Donald Duck style sailors cap, on which I've had sewn an original cap tally from the S.M.S. Goeben, the heavy battle cruiser described in Barbara Tuchman's masterpiece: The Guns of August. I did purchase a supposedly...

    never seen this combination

Even if the inappropriate cruciform base had a "correct" square-cut visor, the spitze, unusually short for an M97 Sachsen, would give it away. The silver chinscales & visor trim might have passed, had they been described as wartime pewter, as on mine.

Hi Guys, First & foremost, thanks for your help with the pics. I finally broke-down & bought a digital camera, and while it's a learning experience, the results are amazing !!! I'm making a series recording of the First World War, but my favorite episode hasn't appeared. It deals with the...

    Uberzug for M95 haube

Wanted for original, unusually large (size 58 or 59) M95 lederhelm, with regimental stamp (27R) & the name of the doughboy who brought it home.

    M91 Land Gendarme

Wylie, Thanks for responding. I'll have some pics taken here @ work, then submit them for posting, however that's done. My helm is similar to your 1890: die-stamped, with pearlring, flat, well made chinscales mounted on M91 bolt-on type lugs. The leather is rather heavy & in very good...

    M91 Land Gendarme

About a year ago, I purchased an M91 helm, in very good condition, with a single NCO Land Kokarde, as well as Garde Eagle & Star. Inside are the initials "L G 1893". For the longest time, I thought it to be an eigentumshelm, but recently, I learned that it's a kind of Territorial Police...

    WW1 Television Documentary

And if Black Helmet Man had defeated the Rebel Thumbs, what would things be like now ?? I enjoy historical conjecture. True, it's all academic, but man doesn't seem to learn alot from history anyway. And forgive me please, I believe that the state of affairs would have been better in many...

    March out the misinformed

Hmm, yet another parts helmet. I'd purchase the thing just for the M91 chinstrap, to replace the repro on my M95. Well, not really, but I could use an original. Mikey, I'm tempted to break my own rule, go to the Rittmeister site & check-out one of his originals, unless someone has one to sell...

    WW1 Television Documentary

No problem, Brian. Still, Gustaf & I, to preclude any future differences, thought prehaps either a duel using machine pistols @ 40 paces, or a mounted charge brandishing sabres would be apprepot - Remember that great scene in the movie "The Duellists" with Harvey Keitel & Keith Carradine ...

    WW1 Television Documentary

Vielen Dank, Otto !!! That's the scene!!! For me as well, it's the best scene in the movie !!! Recalling the book, the soldiers were given fresh uniforms prior to the Kaiser's arrival, which had to be returned immediately following the ceremony. Say, Epsomgreen, I'm sure you've seen those...
