This looks old enough but the spike looks off and the rivets split ins look to be made of wire.
These were faked back in the 70s is this one of those ?

I am always skeptical when it comes to this R22 helmet. Unless I know where and from whom is this helmet coming from, I will not buy it. The spike is for sure a fake. I bought one fake one to see the difference so I am certain

I'm with Amy on this one. I would assume it's a fake unless it came from a well known and knowledgeable collector.

We determined a long time ago that the felt helmets with leather edging were fakes produced in the UK in the 1970s, if I recall correctly.

All available copies, whether from England, Latvia or Ukraine, have one drawback - they are not made of appropriate felt and often collapse under their own weight. Pressing your finger on the structure is enough to make a dent. The original has a concrete structure and it is not possible to depression.
